Stowe Mountain Golf Club, Stowe, VT
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Built into the slopes of Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak, the Stowe Mountain Golf Club (SMGC) was rated one of the “Top 10 New Public Courses in the United States” by Golf Magazine. With exquisite vistas and a back-to-nature feel, the course was designed to Audubon standards and is surrounded by a 750-acre wildlife conservation easement area. It is the first golf course in Vermont (one of only 63 worldwide) to receive the Audubon Signature Sanctuary Certification by Audubon International.
With conservation and preservation in mind for its golfers’ comfort station, SMGC installed a Clivus composting waste treatment system with two foam-flush toilets to utilize a system that discharges no polluting leachate or solids into the environment. The comfort station is completely powered by its own solar electric system.
