Fact: Clivus systems do not give off any odor in the bathroom. A continuously operating fan attached to the composter draws all the odors down the toilet pipes or chutes (for waterless fixtures). Conversely, traditional bathrooms have a fan in the ceiling that pulls all odors up through the room.

Fact: Clivus systems are designed to handle large crowds and shock loading far better than traditional water borne systems due to the reduction in sheer total volume. During the design phase the amounts and type of equipment are matched with the long term use.

Fact: Clivus systems work extremely well at seasonal only facilities with little start up and shut down maintenance.

Fact: Clivus systems are permitted in all New England states under a wide range of applications.

Fact: It is impossible to produce an explosive atmosphere in a Clivus composter since the conditions to produce methane do not exist.

Fact: Proper maintenance and not disposing of food waste that has winged insect larvae down the waterless toilet chutes will eliminate winged insects. Also, using Nepon foam-flush fixtures which provide a blanket of soap foam inside the waste pipe prevents winged insects that might be present in the composter from coming up the waste pipe.

Fact: There is very little maintenance with a Clivus system, however, it should be done on a consistent basis to avoid any problems.

Fact: In most instances when there is a difficult site, environmentally sensitive area, or small space to develop a Clivus system will be less expensive than a traditional system. When taking into account the value of land that would otherwise be used for a disposal area, a Clivus system can be extremely cost effective in expanding the usable space for more productive development which increases the value of the property.

Fact: Clivus toilet fixtures do not compost like the combined fixture/container type. Clivus toilet fixtures are just that – fixtures. The composter unit below holds the mass where all of the composting process takes place.
