What We Do

Clivus New England Service

For over 35 years, Clivus has been the leader in sustainable on-site waste treatment systems.

Since 1973 Clivus has been the industry leader in composting waste treatment and greywater technologies. Composting systems eliminate water from the waste stream and prevent the nutrients in human waste from becoming a source of pollution.

The Nepon foam-flush toilet fixture uses just 3-6 ounces of water. That's a 97% water savings when compared with conventional 1.6 gallon per flush toilets.

Many people consider composting and greywater systems when looking for an alternative to conventional onsite waste treatment technologies. The C11 Trailhead is an ADA compliant pre-fab stand alone restroom structure. The Trailhead is a great solution for golf courses and remote bathrooms. Clivus greywater systems recycle water from sinks, showers, dishwashers, and washing machines to irrigate plants. Satisfied Clivus customers include McDonald’s Restaurants, US Forestry Service, RI Department of Environmental Management, MA Department of Conservation and Recreation, CT Department of Environmental Protection, VT Law School, The Trustees of Reservations, New Seabury Golf Course, MA Audubon, and many more.

History

The Clivus composting system was invented in 1939 in Sweden to address the problem of water pollution. In 1964, AB Clivus was formed to market the technology in Sweden. Clivus Multrum, Inc., the U.S. based licensee of the original Swedish company, was formed in 1973 to develop, manufacture, and sell the technology. Initially, Clivus systems were sold to homeowners. Now Clivus composting and greywater systems have solved problems and provided sustainable solutions for many difficult sites that require human waste treatment before discharge into the water ways. Parks and recreation facilities, nature centers, ‘green buildings’, and, more recently, commercial operations. Today Clivus systems are used in projects calling for thousands of daily toilet uses, in all geographies and climates, and in countries throughout the world.
